چکیده

Fallout material from an underground thermonuclear detonation was analyzed to determine the presence of several longer lived radionuclides. The following radionuclides were identified: Zr95-Nb95, Rul03, Rul06Rhl06, 1131, Csl37-Bal37, Bal40-Lal4O, Cel4l, Cel44-Prl44, Sc46. Mn54, Y88, Rhl02, W181., W185, and W188-ReI88. Radiotungsten contributed the major fraction of the total activity. In suspension studies, chelating agents as compared to water, generally increased the amount of soluble radionuclides, but the effect was small. The effect of water and a chelating agent on the movement of radionuclides in soil columns were also studied.

Transfer of Natural Radionuclides from Soil to Plants in North Western Parts of Dhaka

Soil-plant-man is recognized as a major pathway for the transfer of radionuclides to human beings [(Safety Series, No. 57 (IAEA 1982)]. The radioactivity of environmental samples from sites and products suspected of contamination must be investigated before free access to them is given to the public (Owono 2010). Radionuclides in soils are frequently transferred to different plant tissues by di...

Recent Fukushima nuclear detonation, Chernobyl nuclear fallout, three mile island nuclear accident and atomic bomb explosion – rethinking the effects of nuclear radiations over human health

Background: The earlier Atomic Bomb explosion in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and three worth mentioning nuclear accidents - detonation at Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant, Chernobyl nuclear fallout and an accident at Three Mile Island nuclear power plant have made us more worried about the secure exploitation of nuclear energy. The central focus of this paper is to review radiation-mediated health e...

soils at two locations of Spain affected by different radionuclide contamination events

It is well known that the bioavailability of artifical radionuclides such as Sr, Cs and Pu in contaminated soils depends on the source term origin of the contamination. Altough the behaviour of the mentioned radionuclides in the soil is also influenced by the time passed from the contamination event and the characteristics of the contamination receiving soils. The objective of the present work ...
